Champions League, week 5: tonight, after the success of Milan, Rome, Real Madrid and the defeat of Bayern Munich and Arsenal, it is up to Inter at San Siro facing the Dutch Twente.

Inter is two points ahead in the standings of the Group A on its Dutch rival and a victory in the match today would mean almost certain qualification for the knockout stages. The victory is also the best medicine for Inter coached by Benitez to come back from the defeat against Tottenham on the last day of the Champions League, but especially by the two consecutive league defeats against AC Milan and Chievo.

For the game against Twente Benitez recovers Thiago Motta in midfield, but he will starts from the bench, and Materazzi. He will line up in midfield Cambiasso, Stankovic, Biabiany and Sneijder with Pandev behind Samuel Eto'o, who was also looking for revenge after the disqualification for 3 weeks due to the head against Cesar in the Serie A match. In defense we will see Cordoba on the right, Javier Zanetti on the left while Santon will go on the bench.

Champions League, week 4: Inter defeated by Tottenham 3-1

Champions League, week four: in London, the Inter Benitez sinks against Tottenham, losing 3-1. Both teams are first with 7 points in Group A. In other matches, well Barcelona, while Manchester United and Valencia win.

Tottenham – Liverpool

White Hart Lane stadium in London, is staged the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Inter. Rafa Benitez has to deal with the emergency injuries in midfield. Without Cambiasso, Stankovic, Thiago Motta, the players are Mariga, Zanetti and Muntari. Sneijder to play behind Eto'o, Milito, Biabiany with Pandev that start from the bench.

The beginning of the game's all Tottenham. Redknapp's team has broken out, but most importantly it is triggered by Gareth Bale. The devastating progressions of the young Welsh outside overlooking constantly Maicon always left only Babiany (very bad the French). After a couple of dangerous attacks Bale Tottenham is the advantage thanks to goals from Rafael Van der Vaart who served in vertical Castellazzi Modric beats with a left cross. Soon after Crouch badly wasted a big assist from Bale.

With every passing minute Tottenham ease somewhat the pressure and try to Inter back into the game. The Nerazzurri are not very sharp but Cudicini has to save his door only from a free kick by Sneijder.

The second time the script does not change much of the race. Bale is close to score from the edge, but the ball went out with and Castellazzi could breathe. At 61' minutes comes the 2-0 English: Bale left to run and cross for Peter Crouch in the middle that beat Castellazzi.

The game seems to be closed, but in the last minute Samuel Eto'o tries to reopen it. Sneijder served by the number 9 has invented yet another stunning goal of the season with a shot to the edge of the pole around which beats Cudicini. Goal number 7 in four games for Eto'o, top goalscorer in the Champions League, the monstrous Cameroon. We test then even with a shot from Diego Milito out loud a bit.

When it seems that Inter can get groped the final forcing the goal that closed the match signed by Roman Pavlyuchenko, of course, yet another advantage of an overflowing down Bale on the left.

It ends 3-1 to Tottenham. The British and Inter are 7 points in Group A. Inter will face in the next round at home to Twente who beat Werder Bremen 2-0 and got 5 points in the standings.

The other matches

In Group B match between Benfica and Lyon is spectacular with a 4-3 win by Lusitanian that after being on for 4-0 undergoes the return of the French. In the other match 0-0 between Hapoel Nicosia and Schalke 04.

In Group C, easy victories for Manchester United and Valencia. Ferguson's team beat Bursaspor 3-0 with goals from Fletcher, Obertan and Baby. Valencia wins at home with Glasgow Rangers 3-0 (goals by Costa Soldado).

In Group D, Barcelona does not go beyond the 1-1 away to Copenhagen. Leo Messi's goal of better met by the Brazilian Claudemir. Barcelona and Copenhagen are still now sure of qualification. 0-0 between Panathinaikos and Rubin Kazan.

Golden Ball 2010: The French magazine France Football has publicly issued the list of 23 candidates for the Golden Ball for 2010 FIFA as the best football player in the calendar year now ending.

For the first time the Golden Ball will be unique by combining the old trophy of the FIFA World Player (which almost always coincided). The trophy will be presented next January 10, 2011 in Zurich.

As mentioned, 23 players are candidates to win the Ballon d'Or. As largely preventable, there are many leaders in the 2010 World Cup as well as the protagonists of the last UEFA Champions League.

Very surprising, the absence of Diego Milito among candidates. El Principe has led to the historic victory of the Inter Scudetto, Italian Cup and Champions League and, while not disputing a world-leading, it seemed right to deserve a nomination for the award. On the contrary there is Samuel Eto'o who is experiencing a wonderful time to form. The other candidates for the award Inter Julio Cesar, Maicon and Sneijder. No Italian player was nominated for the award, no surprises here.

To contend for the 2010 Ballon d'Or should be, in all likelihood, Andres Iniesta of Barcelona and Inter Wesley Sneijder, major players in the Champions League and World Cup in South Africa. But be careful with Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the league are putting together record numbers.

Champions League, day 3: tonight at 8.45 PM (CET) at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will be on stage the super match between Real Madrid coached by Mourinho and AC Milan of Massimiliano Allegri, the third game of Group G.

The expected match between Real Madrid and AC Milan will feature two of the claimants to the title and final, of course, and a lot of champions. On the one side, Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain and Ozil; on the other Ibrahimovic, Ronaldinho and Pato.

The only real doubt concerning the defense of Allegri is with Thiago Silva in major doubt after injury suffered in the match won against Chievo at the seventh day of Serie A. If the central Brazilian does not make it, likely the use of one between Papastathopoulos and Bonera, with the Italian favorite. The goalkeeper will be Amelia. The defense is completed by Zambrotta, Nesta, and Antonini, three midfield with Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf (with Boateng ready to step in), and the usual stellar attack with Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic and Pato.

In Real Madrid, the real missing will be the great Kaka for a long-time injured. Mourinho will field type training with Ramos still the center of defense, Xabi Alonso in midfield to juggle with the attack led by Gonzalo Higuain who will be supported by Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil.

Videogames: If you read someone saying "In this feature we have revolutionized the game, recoding it from the beginning" don't trust him, or maybe yes. That's what seemed to happen in Konami for the new version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 in order to keep open the battle versus FIFA 11.

The Fifa versus Pes saga has been one of the most exciting challenges for several seasons. The two games fight every year with improvements in graphic and quality of the game. This battle seems to never end: every time one game improves, the other tries to reduce the gap one year later. And that's all to the advantage of the consumers (us) that can play a better football every year on our PS3, XboX, PC…

We know that Fifa 9 and 10 performed extremely well. For the majority was considered a better game that its rival. And the major improvement that EASports made in the last releases was the complete control of the players' directions and their responsiveness.

On the other hand we cannot give a clear an objective opinion on which is the best game. Most of my friends have always considered Fifa as the football game for beginners. This could be considered true before Fifa 9, even if most of them see in PES the closest videogame to a real football match. It's a matter of style of play: defense, shot, reactivity and goalkeeper. That's why the main focus of the new versions of the two football games seems is the research for realism and completeness of tactics.

The negativity that none of them still has resolved is the team play. The feeling is that each player still plays alone and not with a group of other players. This is definitely the biggest challenge that in US and Japan programmers have to face: however we know how hard is to give a cognitive response to an engine.

Last year EASports won the battle, definitely in sales. For most, even on the "field", Fifa 10 level was higher than Pes 2010, which had some obvious limitations in the animation. For this reason we analyze the improvements of PES compared to the big opponent.

Pro Evolution Soccer Improvements

Started the game the first thing you notice is the new control to 360 degrees. Exploiting the analogies of the left stick of the gamepad, in fact, one can determine the movement of players on a greater number of axes than the previous versions.

Second thing is the pace of play, slower than the previous PES. The new simulator Konami is intended primarily for hardcore football fans. Everything is based on timing: making the right decision is important, but is even more important to act in a timely manner. Move the team with the right timing is in fact the most effective way to bring the defense to make wrong movements and then to take it somewhat unprepared.

Each player has its own power bar. The many power bars to give a particular visual style Pes 2011, connoting the point of view of color.There are power bars for all kinds of action: the simple step by shooting from a through ball to cross, but also for the lineouts with your hands.

Basically the system power bar makes play Pes 2011 closer to Fifa 11 way to play.

Hence, the new Konami's simulator showed a great improvement compared to the past. However PES 2011 is not yet at the level of its rival. But maybe it's just an impression. Konami has introduced many new animations. Furthermore, it was a new system that allows you to create presets of movements, in order to give players the opportunity to perform on the field of artificial complex.

Compared to previous Pes, moreover, it is no longer possible to think of launching an offensive against the defense lined up and hope for the best, defenders in fact almost always recover the ball.

If we look at the version for iphone & ipod, at least from the trailer, PES did a great job. You can look it by yourself.

Serie A, week 6: Lazio first in standings. Draw for Inter-Juventus

Serie A, sixth week: Lazio beats Brescia and moves, alone, in first place of the standings thanks to a tie between Inter and Juventus. Milan and Naples won and are now two points off the top and one point ahead of Inter. Bad day for Roma and Fiorentina.

Lazio – Brescia

Olympic Stadium, the league leaders Lazio (together with Inter) hosts Brescia. The blue-whites of Reja and "Rondinelle" clash openly disputing both a good first half. At 45' minutes, however, Hernanes goes between two players of Brescia and offers a great assist to Stefano Mauri, who scored with the left a nice 1-0. In the second half Brescia, driven mainly by Eder, seen several times close to score, but the door is always blocked by Muslera or defenders of Lazio. It ends 1-0, Lazio flies to 13 points atop the standings alone and enjoying the first confirmation of detection of the championship.

Inter – Juventus

At San Siro, in the postponement of the sixth day, go on stage the most anticipated match, the Derby between Inter and Juventus of Italy. A very nice match between the champions of Italy and Juventus of Del Neri. Match balanced and full of opportunities on both sides. In the first part better Juve usually inspired by Milos Krasic. The serbian winger creates a couple of occasions on which Iaquinta in a case is not ready, in another stroke, but offside. Inter is overflowing, and is not a news, with Samuel Eto'o. The Lion King from Cameroon, played well especially in the wing, for the entry of Milito (which detects Biabiany, injured), than his opponent and in a few circumstances is close to the winning goal or the assist.

Eto'o is still in the second half to create a hazard for Juve. Krasic still responds with a shot on which is great Julio Cesar. Then Quagliarella has a great chance but still Julio Cesar sends the ball to the corner. In the final big chance occasione for Milito, served by Cambiasso, wrong place and ball that goes to the side.

The Nerazzurri will confirm a large battleship with great champions. The Bianconeri are confirmed in growth and show that they can be among the main teams in this league.

Parma – Milan

At Tardini, Allegri choose Robinho, Ronaldinho and Ibrahimovic to face Parma.For the first time Milan played a great game constantly. Zlatan Ibrahimovic dominates physically, but missed a couple of occasions also thanks to a sensational Mirante that saves his door. As often happens in these cases we need a shot of a champion to change the match. We then see Andrea Pirlo pulling out of its cylinder a real magic: amazing shot from 38 meters that can't be stopped. Great goal of Pirlo, confirming once again to be crucial for Milan.

Rossoneri are second in the standings with two points from Lazio. Allegri's team seems more compact and is growing. Continuing on this path, the Rossoneri will be proposed as candidates certainly winning the league.

The other matches

In the other big match of the day, a great Napoli beat Roma 2-0. After a balanced first half with good opportunities for Roma, and Napoli in the second half to hit the victory. Marek Hamsik scores the 1-0 with a goal on an assist in insertion of Dossena. Then an own goal by Juan determines the final result on 2-0. Heavy defeat to AS Roma after the victory against Inter.

Fiorentina defeated at home by Palermo's 2-1 with a great goal by Rosanero Ilicic and El Flaco Pastore. Crisis in the Viola, which remains at 5 points.

Ties between Bologna and Sampdoria and Cagliari and Chievo. Genoa beat Bari 2-1 in numerical inferiority, victory thanks to a goal by Luca Toni. In the home match Lecce beat Catania 1-0. Same result for Udinese with a goal on Cesena at the end by Benatar.

PES 2011: new video and new pictures

Video games, Pro Evolution Soccer: after the first official trailer for the video of the gameplay of PES 2011, during the world conference on video games at the E3 in Los Angeles, there are new images and a new video showing the new PES in action.

At the E3 further steps to the unveiling process of the new chapter of Pro Evolution Soccer have been made. Konami among other things, has scheduled a news conference and could tell us more.

In the images presented, as well as noting the recognizable faces of Messi, Pirlo, Veron and Ronaldo, is interesting to note that one of the screenshots is dedicated to a challenge of Copa Liberatadores, one of the new PES 2011 which will have the license for the European Cup South American. Also note the picture of the menu that shows the return of the hexagon to the quality of the players.

World Cup 2010 in South Africa: Spain is the Champion of the World!

The spanish team wins its first title of the history, thanks to the victory in the final against Netherlands for 1-0. Andrés Iniesta scored the goal 4 minutes before the end of the OverTime.

Netherlands – Spain

In Johannesburg, after the final ceremony of the World Cup 2010 with the greet of Nelson Mandela, it’s time to play. Netherlands and Spain enter in the field with the announced lines-up, the same of the semi-finals. Del Bosque confirms Pedro instead of Fernando Torres.

The first part of the match there is only one team: Spain. Sergio Ramos is close to score for two times. The first with a header where Stekelnburg is prepared. Then with a play from the right side. Netherlands waits, plays strong and commits several fouls, one of them extremely dangerous by De Jong on Xabi Alonso. Close to the end of the first half the Oranjes have the great occasion with Robben, but Casillas saves the goal.

In the second half Netherlands plays better. The team coached by Van Marwijk has another great chance at 62′. Sneijder finds Robben alone in front of Casillas. Robben shots but the Goalkeeper of Real Madrid is lucky and touch the ball with the right foot. Corner. After few minutes Villa has the great chance, but Heitinga saves literally the goal with his body. After 90 minutes the result is 0-0. It’s overtime.

In the first of the two overtimes Spain overcomes Netherlands, thanks to two fresh players Fabregas and Navas. But Stekelenburg saves the goal on Fabregas. On the other side Mathijsen tries to score by head on a corner.

Second half: Heitinga makes a foul on an unstoppable Iniesta. Second yellow card for him and Netherlands plays with 10 men. Spain overpowers Netherlands and there is a chance also for Fernando Torres to play. 4 minutes before the end, Torres cross to the center, Fabregas gets the ball, assist for Andrès Iniesta in the box and GOAL! Iniesta show the t-shirt in honor of Jarque, player of the Espanyol dead one year ago. Casillas cries. The bench is euphoric.

The final score is 1-0, Iniesta gives this victory to Spain. For the first time Spain is the Champion of the World. Parties can start.

World Cup final: Netherlands – Spain line up

World Cup 2010: On July 11th, the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg will host the final of the 2010 edition of the World Cup. Two fresh teams reached the final: Spain, the European Champion with an incredible quality in their midfielders, and Netherlands, a concrete team led by 2 great players.

After several editions dominated by the “classic” football teams (Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy), this time the two teams that will play Sunday 11th are “fresh”. Neither Netherlands nor Spain won a World Cup before and this is a prelude of a great match.

Netherlands, who won all the 6 matches played up to now in South Africa, is a way different from the team who invented the “Total Football”. Sneijder instead of Cruyff as playmaker and two great strikers, Robben and Van Persie (the second one still needs to show his talent in this World Cup), made this team one of the two candidates for the title of one of the “strangest” editions of this Tournament.

On the other side we have the big favorite, Spain, with a long list of wonderful players, from the defender Puyol, who scored the goal against Germany in semi-final, to the striker MARA-Villa, who wants to win the title of top goalscorer.

No changes in the line-up for Netherlands, a big dilemma with the strikers for Del Bosque: Pedro or Torres? Probably Pedro will be in the starting eleven, as in the match versus Germany, since Torres is (still) not in shape.

World Cup: England vs. USA line up

World Cup June 12: probably it is not the big match of the stage group of the World Cup, but England – USA is the first big test for the team coached by Fabio Capello, who is considered a front runner for the victory of the World Cup, and the USA who always did well in the past editions of the Tournament (at least in the group stage).

Both teams are favorite in Group C where they play together with Algeria and Slovenia, hence the today match is already decisive for the first place and neither England nor US want to fail this target.

A good news for USA: Altidore can play. The striker had some problem in the last days with his ankle but can play. A bad news for England: Rio Ferdinand won't play, hence King will take his place. Heskey will probably win the ballot with Crouch to play with Rooney as forward.
