UEFA European U-21: Italy reaches semi-finals

Under 21 European Championship Sweden 2009: Italy wins against Belarus for 2-1 in the last match of this phase and gets the qualification for the semi-finals of the tournament.

Italy – Belarus: at Helsingborg, Casiraghi must do without Balotelli, squalified; the TM chooses on his place Abate. The start is excellent. In the first half they have a lot of chances: Abate and Marchisio go close to the goal with a long distance kick. Criscito goes closer with the head twices, Bocchetti also has an occasion.

Unfortunately, an expected Belarus action finds the goal: cross from the right by Shitov and great conclusion of Kislyak. Consigli is beated. However the young italian players equalize at the end of the half thanks to a penalty kick. Acquafresca scored.

In the second half Bocchetti take immediatly the crossbar. Giovinco “starts” to play and uncork his fantasy. He his the man of the advantage. He passed to Candreva, cross to the center for Robert Acquafresca that scores. Before the end Giovinco targets the crossbar. Italy reaches the semi-finals.

The next match will take place next friday at 8.30PM versus Germany. The other match is England vs. Sweden.
